Fox News contributor Liz Trotta thought that it would be funny to not only put Senator Barak Obama and terrorist Osama Bin Laden in the same category, but she also thought it would be hilarious if they were both killed!

Now normally, I wait and see everyone else's opinion on the matter then post mine, but I'm going to put mine out there today. I feel like people should stop trying to tear down what few positive role models we have left in order to get there 15 minutes of fame. I feel like there are so many other things out there people could be protesting for and fighting about, other than Beyonce' having little girls play dress up for one of her ads. <b>Just think if the young men who got beat in Philly, the Sean Bell case, the war in Iraq, President Bush's lack of leadership skills, Hunger in our nation and world hunger, curing diseases like cancer and AIDS, and hell even homelessness in the United States (have you heard about the <a href="http://www.broadarrow.net/cgi-bin/unplugged.pl?noframes;read=151847">parking lots for the homeless now?!?</a>) got this much attention, outrage, and publicity? We could actually change something.</b> But it's like we have become desynthesized to the important, major, issues. It's not like she had them on there in super short outfits, working in sweat shops to make her stuff, being pimped out or made to look whorish, or even posing in nothing but a sheet like Miley Cyrus (Disney star Hannah Montana, 14 years old) was in Vanity fair:

The girls are fully covered, and it looks harmless. We have become so sensitive and slap happy to over critique and analyze situations that we can't see simplicity. We want to create a reason and a wrong, and sometimes it is really unnecessary. I just feel like it was an ignorant topic and there was no point. Maybe I'm wrong and don't understand because I don't have kids. But I thought it was cute and tasteful, and I got the idea right away that it was dress up/tea party stuff. Everyone else wants to say she wants kids to dress like her and they have boas, stilettos, bling and leather, it's "glamorous pedophilia". People should really learn the important issues instead trying to turn nothing into something is all I'm saying. Geezus...

Love and Fear

Two emotions that in essence need each other to exist. In technical terms, neither can be seen, heard or felt physically as in "I ran into Love today", or "Fear hit me with his car", but we all know that humanly speaking we have in fact seen, heard, and felt both of these emotions. For anyone who was really confused or questioning if racism is still alive and well:

As negative as this imagery is in relation to African American's, and this particular bar owner being located in the south knowing this I'm sure, it should baffle me that he attempts to appear confused as to why so many are outraged by this shirt. But I'm not baffled. I am just really pissed. Read on:

"The Obama campaign is also enduring some much less positive promotion. Mulligan’s Bar and Grill in Cobb County, Ga., is selling t-shirts with a picture of Curious George peeling a banana, with the words “Obama ‘08″ underneath.

According to the AJC, the bar’s owner, Mike Norman, acknowledged the imagery’s Jim Crow roots but said he sees nothing wrong with depicting a prominent black person as a monkey.

He said, “We’re not living in the (19)40’s. Look at him…the hairline, the ears — he looks just like Curious George.” A few months ago, a caller on the Rush Limbaugh Show referred to Obama as Curious George. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the publishing company that owns the Curious George image, says it is considering legal action to stop the sale of a T-shirt depicting Barack Obama as the monkey from children’s books."

Why is Coonery such a popular trend?

In recollection of all the things that have come to pass over the past couple days (prom fiasco, Rape Dance), as well as the last few years (Flavor of Love, I love New York). And in coming across this site: Coon Song These words popped into my head:

Ignorance. Immorality. Indolence. Deceit. Salaciousness.

Popular terms used when describing people who have a "Coon" nature about themselves.The definition of a Coon is:The Dictionary definition is Slang: Disparaging and Offensive. A black person. The unofficial definition used among black people is someone who acts like a buffoon or sellout, usually with stereotypical or over-the top antics, reminicient of minstrel shows.

This definition can be updated now to include all races, as it should have in the first place, because clearly ALL races are now able to display acts of buffoon-erisms even more readily than ever before through a plethora of media outlets, especially Youtube, MTV, and VH1.

Examples:
*Rock of Love with Brett Michaels
*Shot at Love with Tila Tequilla
*Flavor of Love with Flavor Flav
*Hell, any show that has the word love anywhere in it and in fact has NO CLUE abut what love is.

From the people who defined it to the people who it was once used to describe, I am too curious to know why this extra derogatory term is the hottest trend since sliced bread?!?I mean, people used to loathe being viewed as a sellout, unintelligent, whorish, dishonest, and just useless human matter.But now, it is cool to shack up with someone, marriage is of no significance, lying and cheating to get ahead in the game is what's hot in the streets, how much ass and titty you can show is way more valuable than being smart, and being lazy and getting a quick dollar doing something extremely stupid gets you looked upon highly and favorably among your peers and counterparts.

When did we loose sight of the dreams and aspirations of our fore fathers and founders, and become the thing that they fought so hard for us not to be labeled as?And does anyone care to correct the problem?

Have we become alright with being/being represented by Coon individuals?

I leave you with words from The Coon Caricature. Uninsert any reference to Blacks/African Americans and insert the word person, since as we all know, the word Coon is all encompassing of all races:

He was, simply, too lazy or too cynical to attempt to change his lowly position. Also, by the 1900s, Sambo was identified with older, docile Blacks who accepted Jim Crow laws and etiquette; whereas coons were increasingly identified with young, urban Blacks who disrespected Whites. Stated differently, the coon was a Sambo gone bad.

Well, I'm so excited, I just can't hold it any longer. :) In 13 hours, give or take a few minutes, I will be 24!!! I know, you probably think it's lame that I still get all super excited about my birthday. But that it my personal day, the day I was born and I put my special little mark on the world. Plus, you should be happy for every day that God allows you to wake up. It being my birthday just gives me a reason to be EXTRA excited. lol I hope I'm still this excited when I turn 40... Anyway, have a piece of cake with me won't you?

Christmas Recap and the slaughter of greatness

Merry after Christmas to all!!! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, got lots of time off from work and most of their Christmas wishes came true. As I am just getting back to work myself, I have been checking out my yahoo, concrete loop, and such. I saw that Ne-Yo has a new video out, Go On Girl I think it is. On the sit e they used a you tube version, so it isn't opening on my end at work, so I decided to look for it on Daily Motion. As I am scanning through the videos listed under Ne-Yo, I come across a video with Ne-Yo and Sarah Connor entitled Sexual Healing. My interest being piqued, and me being a huge Ne-Yo fan, I decided to check it out. Already assuming it was going to be awesome, my fantasy was crushed when I actually started watching the video:

Clearly, I wasn't ready to view the slaughter of this legendary song, no matter how humorous it may have been. I will say that Ne-Yo's parts in the song were enjoyable, but even he could not save this rendition. in my eyes, from it's demise. The lack of soul, the overcompensation of eroticism, and the lackluster vocal capabilities of the female counterpart successfully made this video the most Hilarious/Depressing H.A.M. (Hot Ass Mess) that I have had the pleasure of witnessing in '07, and until I can think of something else as equally dissatisfying, in the span of my lifetime. It is one thing to create a party song that is supposed to have no soul, a remix, or even sample another artists work. But to pretend to aptly recreate a song and lose the entire aura of the work is down right preposterous. Then the video is the final torturous act that choked the life out of a legend. So, I had to post this in all of its horror for you all to view. Enjoy at your own risk.

Young lady stabbed, burned, and throat slit. Ladies, Please be Careful!

I received some terrifying, horrible news. My line sister, whose name I won't release, was bruttaly attacked on Saturday, December 1st. Her ex-boyfriend burned her over her body and face with a steam iron, stabbed her in the top of her head and over her body with a kitchen knife, and attempted to slit her throat. He tried to smash her head in with a family size juicy juice can, threw her through her dining room table, and hit her in the back of her head with a dining room chair. You can read more about him and his police report here. She is doing better, and she thanks God that she is alive and her abuser was captured. I guess I am really disturbed with the amount of black women who have been in the news, and the ones who have gone unreported, who have been attacted, and some even killed by their ex boyfriends. Recently, I blogged about Latasha Norman, a Jackson, MS college student who was reported missing. Her ex boyfriend later turned himself in, and she was found dead in the woods not far from the school. Also this year, Nailah Franklin was suspected to be killed by an ex boyfriend. Fitting in the 20 something category of African American females like these other young ladies, I have to say that I am very disturbed by this new pattern of abuse and murder. And for women in general, we should be a lot more cautious and look for signs of mental instability in men. Don't be so blind sided by love that you don't recognize the subtle signs of a maniac. Some good advice my mom gave me also was to not "back track" with a guy and start back dating him again after you have broken up with him. Also, just cut your losses and move on. Stop talking to the guy, seeing him, being nice to him. Dissapear out of his life and let him dissapear out of yours.

My friend was extremely blessed and lucky, but so many more women are not. Please, take care of yourselves and be extra careful. Love you all.

Barack Obama was recently interviewed in Time Magazine. He is a very charismatic, dapper, inteligent man, and I thought I would post the article:

You've been engaging with Senator Clinton in a more direct way. Is there a danger of damaging your brand of new politics?
If you look at every public statement I've made over the past two months, you'd be hard-pressed to say that at any point we've been gratuitous, nasty, personal. We've had some policy differences that we described. We're running for the presidency of the United States of America, not for student-council president. This has been a relatively civil campaign.

Her campaign just issued a statement saying you had less foreign policy experience than any President since World War II.
They want to press what they consider to be a comparative advantage. It seems to get less traction as people hear me talk. If Senator Clinton has specific differences with me on Iraq, Iran, Burma, she can pick her hot spot, and we'll have a fruitful debate. The American people might not agree with everything I say, but I don't think they'll say, "The guy doesn't know what he's talking about."

How do you deal with the idea that some people might not vote for you because of your race?
Racism is a function of our society. There are some people who aren't going to vote for me because I've got big ears. Part of my optimism about Americans is that I don't think they expect me to be deracialized in order to represent them.

A few months ago, we ran a cover story called "The Case for National Service."
One of the things I think I can bring to the presidency is to make government and public service cool again. There's such a hunger among young people for some outlet for their idealism. That's why you see these movements around Darfur or climate change. You don't see it expressed in terms of people wanting to serve in the Justice Department or the foreign service. Why should they, when the core missions of those agencies have been gutted?

Would you say Al Gore is really the catalyst for concern about climate change?
He has been working on this for decades. The country and the world caught up to him.

Would you offer him a job in an Obama Administration?
In a minute.

What about Bill Clinton?
In a second. There are few more talented people."
