For anyone who was really confused or questioning if racism is still alive and well:
As negative as this imagery is in relation to African American's, and this particular bar owner being located in the south knowing this I'm sure, it should baffle me that he attempts to appear confused as to why so many are outraged by this shirt. But I'm not baffled. I am just really pissed. Read on:
"The Obama campaign is also enduring some much less positive promotion. Mulligan’s Bar and Grill in Cobb County, Ga., is selling t-shirts with a picture of Curious George peeling a banana, with the words “Obama ‘08″ underneath.According to the AJC, the bar’s owner, Mike Norman, acknowledged the imagery’s Jim Crow roots but said he sees nothing wrong with depicting a prominent black person as a monkey.
He said, “We’re not living in the (19)40’s. Look at him…the hairline, the ears — he looks just like Curious George.” A few months ago, a caller on the Rush Limbaugh Show referred to Obama as Curious George. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the publishing company that owns the Curious George image, says it is considering legal action to stop the sale of a T-shirt depicting Barack Obama as the monkey from children’s books."

hey sis, I dunno if you knew but there was a poll done in West Virginia after the primary and it said that 22% voted based on race and 80% of them voted for Hillary
That is just too ridiculous. I bet it was a pathethic bid for attention for his bar. You know...create some controversy, and then play dumb, like you had no idea it was controversial and inflamatory. People are so stupid...they fall this crap every time. Actually, the news media does. I stand corrected. If they never gave play to this mess...nobody could pull this sort of stupidity and get away with it. I hope the Curious George people sue his pants off. Peace and blessings.
Yes, I saw this on bossip.com yesterday and just about had a fit...my friend who I was talking to at the time could only say..."Well Barack does kinda favor a monkey"..regardless of whether he does or doesn't...there are certain words or phrases that have certain racial connotations and implications and to sit up there and play Mr.BlissfulIgnorant is so beyond me...people need to wake up...
And people were trying to convince themselves that white folks are changing because of Obama's presidential candidancy. Yeah...
