Young lady stabbed, burned, and throat slit. Ladies, Please be Careful!

I received some terrifying, horrible news.  My line sister, whose name I won't release, was bruttaly attacked on Saturday, December 1st.  Her ex-boyfriend burned her over her body and face with a steam iron, stabbed her in the top of her head and over her body with a kitchen knife, and attempted to slit her throat.  He tried to smash her head in with a family size juicy juice can, threw her through her dining room table, and hit her in the back of her head with a dining room chair.  You can read more about him and his police report here.   She is doing better, and she thanks God that she is alive and her abuser was captured.  I guess I am really disturbed with the amount of black women who have been in the news, and the ones who have gone unreported, who have been attacted, and some even killed by their ex boyfriends.  Recently, I blogged about Latasha Norman, a Jackson, MS college student who was reported missing.  Her ex boyfriend later turned himself in, and she was found dead in the woods not far from the school.  Also this year, Nailah Franklin was suspected to be killed by an ex boyfriend. Fitting in the 20 something category of African American females like these other young ladies, I have to say that I am very disturbed by this new pattern of abuse and murder.  And for women in general, we should be a lot more cautious and look for signs of mental instability in men.  Don't be so blind sided by love that you don't recognize the subtle signs of a maniac.  Some signs of a lunatic:

    1. Rough Treatment

    2. Quick Attachment and Expression

    3. Frightening Temper

    4. Killing Your Self-Confidence

    5. Cutting Off Your Support

    6. The Mean and Sweet Cycle

    7. It's Always Your Fault

    8. Breakup Panic

    9. No Outside Interests

    10. Paranoid Control

    11. Public Embarrassment

    12. It's Never Enough

    13. Entitlement

    14. Your Friends and Family Dislike Him

    15. Bad Stories

    16. The Waitress Test

    17. The Reputation

    18. Walking on Eggshells

    19. Discounted Feelings/Opinions

    20. They Make You "Crazy"

Further detail on each one check out Dangerous Versions of 'The Loser' by Joseph M. Carver, Ph.D.

Some good advice my mom gave me also was to not "back track" with a guy and start back dating him again after you have broken up with him.  Also, just cut your losses and move on.  Stop talking to the guy, seeing him, being nice to him.  Dissapear out of his life and let him dissapear out of yours.

My friend was extremely blessed and lucky, but so many more women are not.  Please, take care of yourselves and be extra careful.  Love you all.

Wow I'm glad she's okay. This really hurts my heart.

That is really sad.  This has been happening alot this year.  Pretty pathetic when you have to treat a female like that.  I'm glad your friend is alive though

I'm curious about the waitress test..

The weird thing is that I just read an article saying that these abusive relationships are rising amongst teenagers in NY. This is quite disturbing..

it is a sad state of events indeed. Glad to hear that your line sister was able to make it out alive and that her attacker was caught. i really don't know what be on people's mind these days.. I see why women are afraid to turn men down when they approach... this mess is really disheartening. and your mother has given you some good advice.. now i need to make sure my sisters and nieces don't get involved with such men. another thing to be concerned about.. piece and blessings

thanks for coming by the page and actually taking the time to read and comment on the poetry.

and you are absolutely right.  rejecting a man these days requires strategy like no other..  i don't know what it is about these days and times but it makes almost no sense to me that a woman cannot tell a man no without fear of retribution... while i will admit that some women are down right degrading when they turn a brother down it still doesn't warrant all the mess that some brothers be doing.. anyway here is to hoping that things get better and that i don't get myself killed behind one of these stupid negroes acting retarded around my family..

    piece and blessings.

Oh my. It is a blessing your line sister is okay and that the man has been caught and will be prosecuted. It is a shame what the world and the people in it a coming to. It's horrible that woman nowa days are more intrested in being loved by "anybody" in a hurry than taking the time to find someone who will love them and respect them. Good blog. Peace.
